Understanding The Sacraments of Initiation

To understand the importance of "completing our sacraments," we must first delve into what these sacraments signify.

  • Baptism: This is the first sacrament received, usually as an infant. It signifies spiritual rebirth. Through the act of baptizing, we are freed from original sin, become a part of the Church, and embark on our journey with Christ.
  • Eucharist: The reception of the Holy Communion is the pinnacle of our initiation process. The Eucharist nourishes our faith and fortifies us for our spiritual journey. It's a sacrament that can be received repeatedly, offering a continual reminder of Christ's love and sacrifice.
  • Confirmation: This sacrament deepens our baptismal life, endows us with the Holy Spirit, and strengthens our bond with the Church. It's typically received in adolescence or early adulthood. Confirmation is the affirmation of our faith and acceptance of our responsibilities as mature Catholics.
