More About the Life of Mary

Mary was born to Anna and Joachim in the village of Nazareth. She was betrothed to Joseph, a carpenter and the time of The Annunciation, when the angel Gabriel appeared to her and announced she would bear the Son of God. Mary was chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus because of her great faith and purity.

After the birth of Jesus, Mary played a vital role in his life and ministry. She was a devoted mother to Jesus and she was present at many of the significant events in his life, including the Wedding of Cana and the Crucifixion.

Today, Mary is honored by Catholics around the world as the Queen of Heaven and the Mother of God. She is often depicted in art and literature as a symbol of motherhood, purity, and devotion, and there are several solemn days on the church calendar that honor her including Mary, Mother of God (January 1st), the Assumption (August 15th), and The Immaculate Conception (December 8th).
